I was born on October 20, 1966 in Villambroz (Palencia). I hold a Law degree and I work as a labour lawyer in the Spanish trade union Comisiones Obreras. I was the second chairman of the Youth Provincial Council from Palencia (and the first woman to hold this position), where I participated almost since it was founded coming from the youth associations, particularly in ACUP, of which I was a member of its first democratically elected Board of Directors. There began my involvement in other movements and platforms such as the Insubordination Platform, the Committee for Peace, the Women’s Coordinator, etc., and afterwards I became a member of the political party Izquierda Unida (IU).
I was in the Palencia City Council representing IU for two legislative periods. I represent the IU Women’s Department in the Platform for the Women’s Rights of Palencia, and I was involved in its foundation. I have also participated in several platforms and forums, such as the Social Forum. Furthermore, I am a member of ARCO (an association of consumers and producers of eco-products from Palencia).
I run for these elections because I believe it’s time for Spain to change, and to revert the neoliberal and antisocial policies which we have been suffering, as we are in a situation of social emergency (evictions, unemployment, migration, privatisations and constant rights cuts, starting with the right to work and to a decent wage, but also the right to free, universal and quality public education and health, and to adequate social services for older people with disabilities or at risk of social exclusion), which requires that we must all do our best to revert it.
