Josep Vendrell Gardeñes Candidature for Barcelona

Josep Vendrell Gardeñes

I was born in Camarasa (Lleida) in 1968.  I have a degree in History. I joined the PSUC in 1986. From 1989 to 1990 I fulfilled various tasks in the Union responsible for services and the Intercomarcal Union of the Lands of Lleida within CCOO (Workers’ Commissions) and in the Communist Youth of Catalunya. From 1991 to 1996 I was the national coordinator of Jóves amb Iniciativa. From 1996 to 2003 I was responsible for International Relations and Communication of ICV. I was also the Cabinet Chief of the Joan Saura Council in the Department of Institutional Relations and Participation in the Generalitat de Cataluña (2003-2006) and Secretary of Institutional Relations and Participation (2006-2010). From 2011 to 2015 I was a deputy in the Parliament of Cataluña for ICV-EUiA.

I am standing in these elections to make the most of this historic opportunity to end the bi-party system and to move forward with political change; to recover social rights for citizens and to unblock the political conflict that exists between Catalunya and Spain with the celebration of a referendum.
